Happy movie

Here is Ellie playing on her activity mat. She loves it and plays for hours!!!

Just in case you wanted to hear more crying

Sleep?

I cursed our good fortune of getting sleep by writing about it last time hence the lack of posts. Ellie really likes to party at night and it is very hard to get her to calm down and sleep. Once she's down, she doesn't stay that way for long. Momma hasn't had very good rest in a few days. During the day, she's less fussy but wants to be held or entertained all day long!
On the plus side she has been smiling a lot more. It is so stinking cute when she smiles back at us. She's also cooing - not at us, but her reflection in the mirror! She's also getting very strong and keeps her head up when we hold her over our shoulders. Her vision is getting better. She is staring at people and objects and reaches out to them instead of aimlessly flailing her arms around. Last week we went to the mall with Grandma B, had lunch with some of the Z girls, and hung out with Becky. Sadly, half of my maternity leave is over. I can't believe it! :(

Best Buds!

Ellie and Odie bonding before birth

Ellie and Odie bonding now

One month update

What a difference a month makes!

Ellie had her one month checkup today. She weighs 10.5 pounds and measures 22 inches. This put her in the 81st percentile for weight and 70th for height. Thankfully her head circumference was in the 50th because her parents both have huge heads! She didn't like her shot, but she enjoyed the other events of the appointment. She gave the doctor a huge smile and he confirmed that yes, that is a real smile!

We had a great weekend. On Saturday we celebrated our anniversary by dropping Ellie off at Grandma Mars' house and had a date night all to ourselves. We saw The Proposal and ate at the Bonefish Grill. It was so nice to have a quiet dinner where we could both eat at the same time and attempt to talk about non baby stuff.

Ellie slept 8 hours on Saturday night and 6 on Sunday night. I might be a bad Mom for letting her sleep that long, but since her weight was great today, I'm not planning on waking her up to feed her! She's also been enjoying playing on her activity mat. She'll play for hours and especially enjoys looking at herself in the mirror (what girl doesn't?)

Happy Anniversary

4 years ago, we tied the knot Aug 13, 2005. It is hard to believe we've been together over 6 years! I'm glad Scott stayed with me, even though it meant many trips to the Bresa in our early dating days. I'm sure I put up with a few things too.
Today is also our little munchkin's 1 month "birthday." Don't get too big too fast little lady!

Ellie's first play date

On Saturday Alison, Terry, and Katie came over to our house for dinner and wii. Al and I had been anticipating this meeting before the girls were even born. The evening was filled with fun activities such as eating and crying. Ellie did most of the crying, but Katie filled in during the brief silent gaps. The tired parents were able to eventually eat some dinner, but the wii time was very limited. Our carefree and easy lives as we used to know it will never be the same!

Other activities for the week included walking to the Dairy Dip 3 times (HOLY!) and having a few visitors. Joelie came all the way from Colorado and it was fabulous to see her! We also saw Paul/Missy, Grandma Mars, and Aunt Joy/Uncle Ryan. I'm 99% sure Ellie smiled for the first time last night. She was very alert at the time and it lit up her whole face unlike the sleepy gassy "smiles." It made the last 4 weeks of getting screamed and frowned at all worth it. What a fun week.
Last night was a little rough. After a few nights of very good sleep (of course on Scott's turn for the night shift), Ellie was pretty excited to stay up. I don't think the stormy weather helped at all. Both kids (Ellie and Odie) were giving me lots of trouble and I didn't get much sleep. On the bright side, I think the weather helped some babies get born! Both Dan/Beth and Amy/Jordan had their babies yesterday! Still waiting for news on baby Kurtz's name. They love torturing us.

Ellie is 4 weeks old today!!!

3 Weeks and TMI

Yesterday Ellie turned 3 weeks old! I didn't have time to post because I was overwhelmed with feeding, crying (mostly on her end), bouncy walks, soothing, laundry, and cleaning up poop. Yesterday was her poopiest day to date. She went all over me during 3 different diaper changes and also while I was taking her temperature (way gross). On a less graphic subject, we had a very lovely weekend. On Saturday, we went to BRU to spend some gift cards, enjoyed lunch at Noodles, and traveled to Spring Lake for Joe's 30th birthday party. Ellie stayed fairly calm until the birthday party when she wanted to show off her powerful lungs. I hope we didn't scare all of the expectant parents in attendance. On Sunday we went to church. Ellie decided she doesn't like church and screamed through the second half. Scott joined the many other bouncy/walk parents in the back since they closed the overflow (aka screaming child section) for the summer. I think that's it. If I missed anything I probably blocked it out for a reason. Enjoy the week!
